There are eight libraries spread across the town where you can drop in and spend time in a relaxed and informal atmosphere - go to Find a Library to locate your nearest library. If you wish to borrow books, CDs or DVDs or use the computers, you will need to join. It is easy, and free, to join a library, just bring along one form of current official ID with your name and address on to your local library. 

If you have a disability, or a mobility problem, there is also a Home Library Service - go the the Home Library Service page for details and contact information.

At your local library you can borrow all kinds of books, read a range of newspapers and magazines, bring your children to rhyme times or homework clubs, access information, log onto the Internet, find a quiet place to study or learn something new, pick a DVD, CD or language course. If you are looking for something to read, we have a great range of novels from the classics to the latest blockbusters and if you cannot find what you want, just ask a member of staff to help you. As well as novels, you can find books on many subjects, to help you with homework, career or hobbies - everything from GCSE guides, books on law, management or finance to books on cookery, gardening and travel. We also stock a wide range of large print books to make reading more relaxing and enjoyable, or you can listen to a book on CD whether at home or on the move. Now you can download a book onto your MP3 player. Go to the Do It Online page for more information.
