Central Library News
Luton Central Library has a range of courses and activities available for you this Winter. Read on for more information.
The Council and Luton Cultural Services Trust were awarded £1,247,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to improve the Central Library and increase the range of learning available. With extra funding from both organizations, around £1.8 million has been spent on improving the library. This includes:
- a bigger children's library with dedicated space for babies and toddlers
- new, flexible meeting rooms for use by local organizations, which double up as classrooms
- a quiet IT and study area
- a new Museum "taster" area
- a new area for older and visually impaired people, with large print and audio books
- improvements to the appearance of the building, with a refurbished entrance hall, improvements to self-service and the brand new Empress cafe on the third floor
We now offer a range of formal and informal learning courses in the library. For more information click on the link to Information IT and Learning.
We also have daily activities for families with babies, toddlers and young children - click on the link Just for Children to see what's on offer.
