Join the Library
Anyone who lives, works or studies in Luton can join Luton Libraries for free. Members may borrow up to 15 items, get free computer use and access to a wide range of online services.
How to Join
Online joiners have immediate access to our eLibrary platforms "Overdrive" and "Borrowbox". Complete the online joining form and make a note of your temporary membership number and PIN. If you wish to access other online services or loan physical books, please bring into any Luton library a note of your membership number and proof of identity and speak to a member of our team.
If you prefer to join in person, please bring proof of identy to a Luton library and speak to a member of our team.
Acceptable identification
We accept most forms of official identification. e.g. a bank card, passport, utility bill, bank statement, a letter from a government department or a letter from a local recognised organization. All forms of identity should be in-date and if a letter, no more than three months old.
Under-16s
For children under 16 to join the library, they require a parent or carer to sign their registration as guarantor. This parent or carer also needs to show either their own library card or proof of their identity.
Terms and Conditions
Luton Libraries is part of The Library Consortium, a group of 21 Library Authorities across London, the South-East, and the East of England. You can use your library card in any library within the Consortium. By completing this form you are agreeing that we can hold personal information on our shared database and in accordance with current Data Protection Legislation. This data can be accessed by authorised library staff across the Consortium and may be used for training and testing purposes.
